Oil

Apply a thin, even layer of our scheller woodwork board butter or other oil/wax blend to the entire surface of the cutting board, including sides and edges with a cloth or paper towel. Buff the oil into the board, making sure to coat every surface. Let the oil soak in for a few hours or overnight, then wipe away any excess oil. Oiling helps maintain moisture balance and prevents cracks, dryness, and warping. Repeat this oil/wax application process monthly or as needed to maintain the board's appearance and longevity.

Wash

Rinse the board with running warm water to help destroy bacteria.  Clean the cutting board with mild dish soap and warm water, scrubbing gently to remove stains and food particles.

You can also sprinkle salt over the cutting board's surface while it's still wet to draw out moisture trapped in the board's cracks, along with any bacteria that might be hiding.

Dry

Ensure the board is thoroughly dried after washing. Wood absorbs liquid very effectively, allowing it to sit in water will warp the wood and cause damage.
Dry the cutting board thoroughly using a towel and allow it to air dry completely. Store the board in a dry, cool place.
